Auckland is celebrating Diwali with the crowd favourite and yearly event the BNZ Auckland Festival. The festival will take place over Saturday and Sunday on the 19th and 20th October and is free and family friendly.
The festival takes place at Aotea Square and surrounding areas will feature three incredible stages to enjoy two days of dance, song, musical performances and vibrant Indian culture performances starting from midday to 9pm.
There will also be food stalls bringing Queen Street alive with so many different India cuisines to enjoy, some may even have free samples to try! With other market stalls with from everything from clothing, crafts to jewellery. If you fancy getting moving yourself join the free yoga workshops at Aotea Square, Head to the Aotea Centre to connect, hear and share inspiring stories and accomplishments or take part in the chalk it up competition with local rangoli artists from 12pm on Saturday. If you need a rest, head to the Library on Lorne Street for some time out and enjoy the curated book display, short documentaries, a special Diwali Storytime and Nokshi Katha embroidery workshop. Then stick around for the fabulous firework display to close the celebrations on Sunday at around 8:50pm.

Wellington is celebrating Diwali with the Diwali Festival of Lights on Sunday the 27th October with events at TSB Arena and Shed 6 The festival is the perfect place to experience an celebrate the sounds of India and the South-East Asia cultures.
The festival will showcase he colours, tastes and sounds with Indian culture performances, food stalls and activities for the whole family. Including lantern making, henna painting, food, fashion and jewellery stores.
The event will then close with a spectacular firework display on at the Wellington waterfront from 8:45pm.

Riverside Market in Christchurch city centre is celebrating Diwali with a vibrant Diwali Festival on Saturday 2nd November from 5pm – 9pm. This family friendly event kicks off from 4pm and will bring a taste of India with musical, dance and light performances, family crafts including henna decorating, a clay lamp competition and Rangoli Art competition. There will also be food stalls and lots of fun activities to celebrate Diwali.
