Auckland CBD

Auckland CBD has some great options for ice cream and dessert bars, perfect for date nights or a treat before or after the theatre or comedy show:

• Giapo - 12 Gore Street. This Auckland CBD favourite ice cream parlour is known for their extravagant toppings and cones, and you’ll find creative flavours and amazing vegan options!

• Miann - Britomart & central Ponsonby. For the ultimate ice cream or ice cream desserts head to Miann, they often look to good to eat!

• Oko Dessert and Bar - 291-297 Queen Street. This a great location when visiting the Civic and an Auckland favourite for their ice cream specialty drinks from iced mochas, thick shakes to affogato all made with Movenpick ice cream.

• Island Gelato - 99 Quay Street (The ferry building). The ultimate Italian award-winning gelato and sorbet company. This little ice cream company started life on Waiheke Island and has grown to be awarded New Zealand’s favourite ice cream in 2022!

• Bangkok rolled ice cream, famous for their rolled ice creams inspired by Thai street vendors.

Takapuna

In Takapuna you are truly spoilt for choice for ice cream, it’s the perfect location to grab an ice cream and have a walk on the beach, here our top picks:

• Takapuna Beach Café – 22 The Promenade. The perfect spot after a beach walk where you can choose from decadent gelatos and fruity sorbets! This is also a great spot to grab a coffee or brunch.

• KiwiYo - 84 Hurstmere Road. For those wanting something like ice cream but slightly different head to KiwiYo for delicious frozen yoghurt with the best toppings choices!

• House of Chocolate Dessert & Cakery - 62-68 Hurstmere Road. For the ultimate dessert with a side of ice cream head here! We’d recommend the espresso waffles served with espresso ice cream or the caramelised banana split!

Ponsonby

Ponsonby is another great ice cream destination, with lots of options and parking close by:

• Duck Island – 1/182 Ponsonby Road, a crowd favourite with delicious handmade ice creams made with local ingredients. We recommend the toasted marshmallow! They also have locations in Takapuna, Newmarket and Wellington.

• Ben & Jerrys - 160 Ponsonby Road – for an ice cream on the go, you can’t go wrong with an ice cream sandwich from Ben & Jerrys. There’s also a pop-up store in Commercial Bay, CBD.

Newmarket

In Newmarket we recommend heading to:

• Tsujiri - 277/309 Broadway, for the best matcha soft serve, this may sound a strange flavour but we guarantee you’ll be back for more.

• Movenpick – 118 Broadway. You can’t go wrong with Movenpick for delicious classic ice cream flavours. They also have shops in the CBD and Takapuna!

For those living or travelling East, you have a great little hidden gem Scoop and Smile:

• Head to Scoop and Smile - 130A Main Highway, Ellerslie for ice cream and waffles and many unique flavours. We’d recommend the Peanut slab which is a crowd favourite.
